Spoiler alert: She just kept swimming!

Disney•Pixar announced today that Finding Dory, a sequel to the Academy Award-winning Finding Nemo, will dive into theaters Nov. 25, 2015. As the name implies, the film will focus on Ellen DeGeneres’s memory-challenged blue tang fish Dory. Like the first Finding flick, Dory will be directed by Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton; reports of Stanton’s involvement in a Nemo sequel first surfaced last summer.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” DeGeneres said in a statement, possibly translated from the original Whale. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating Toy Story 16. But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is — it’s got a lot more Dory.”

More specifically, Finding Dory will take place about a year after the events of Nemo. Characters including Marlin, Nemo, and the “Tank Gang” will all appear in the movie, though Disney•Pixar’s release didn’t specify whether actors including Albert Brooks and Willem Dafoe will be back to voice them.

The release did, however, note that the story is partially set along the California coastline, and that it will feature several  new characters — “including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.” A family of Dories?! Count us in.
