'Game of Thrones': New video imagines it with 1995 production values

Was School of Thrones just a tad too modern for your delicate sensibilities? If so, a new Game of Thrones homage might be more your speed. The latest viral riff on Westeros imagines how the HBO series would look if it had been produced in 1995. Check out the Xena-esque production values, ’80s-inflected theme song, and close-ups of fond smiles below.

Laugh-inducing as the finished product is, the concept isn’t that crazy, considering the first book in George R. R. Martin’s series hit shelves in 1996. Humor us for a minute, PopWatchers: Who do you think would have actually starred in Game of Thrones had it existed in the mid ’90s? Personally, I believe Kevin Sorbo missed a big opportunity to put his stamp on Ned Stark.
