Finding TV's next triple threat

”Girls”’ creator-writer-star Lena Dunham may get some small-screen company if these three multitaskers — who are all creating, writing, and starring in fall pilots — get a series pickup this spring.

Posted on

Sharon Horgan

Claim to fame: Co-writing and starring on the British comedy Pulling (which is currently being adapted by ABC).

Pilot on deck: ABC’s Bad Management stars the actress as a department-store exec who clashes with her boss’ son.

Bottom Line: A funny woman with an Irish brogue? We’re intrigued.

John Mulaney

Claim to fame: Writing for SNL, appearing in “Weekend Update” segments.

Pilot on deck: An untitled multicamera comedy at NBC that’s loosely based on his life. SNL‘s Lorne Michaels is exec-producing.

Bottom line: NBC has a recent history (30 Rock, Parks and Recreation) of successfully transferring SNL talent to prime time.

Rebel Wilson

Claim to fame: Breakout performances in Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect.

Pilot on deck: ABC’s Super Fun Night, about three gals whose Friday-night ritual of staying in is threatened when one of them gets a promotion and a party invite.

Bottom on line: Right now, Wilson can do no wrong on the big screen — so why not on U.S. TV, too?
