Yes, the fellas in 21 and Over do get thrown out of bars in real life. Or so they say.
But that wasn’t an issue when EW sat down with the movie’s three stars — Skylar Astin, Justin Chon, and Miles Teller — at the Playwrite Tavern in Manhattan to discuss their nonstop party-fest extravaganza. Listening to their stories about working on and promoting the film, which opens in theaters today, you quickly learn things like the aforementioned bar incident — a reference to this late-night tweet — and the trio’s great chemistry, which is helpful when spending the majority of a movie bouncing off of each in other in various states of debauchery (and nudity).
Oh, and they all fell in love with $13 PB&Js while filming.
The movie was a bonding experience, not only for the three actors, but for their relationship with its fans. Some members of the audience feel so emboldened after seeing advance screenings that asking follow-up questions like, “Is anyone smoking a blunt after this?” or “Was that your real penis?” are totally no big deal. “The fans seem to dig it,” Teller said. “We’re so proud of this film, so honestly, if you get it, then you’re cool, and if you don’t, then you’re probably a nerd.”
