While appearing on Watch What Happens Live on Monday night, Kristin Cavallari confirmed the unthinkable: The Hills… was fake. (I’ll pause while you digest this. Take deep breaths. In. Out. In. Out. Ready?)
As a first-time guest, Cavallari was subjected to Plead the Fifth, a segment in which host Andy Cohen asks his guests three questions, only one of which they can choose not to answer. He started with a doozy: “How fake was The Hills?” “Oh, I don’t mind answering this question,” she promptly replied. “Pretty fake.” WHAT? “Fake relationships, fake fights… sorry.” You see, Ms. Cavallari was an actress that whole time. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:
Here’s what I don’t get: why do we keep asking this question? Does anyone not know The Hills was fake? Multiple cast members have said so: Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Even Lauren Conrad. I mean, The Hills itself confirmed it was fake. Did you see the series finale? Here’s a refresher:
Why yes, that is a sound stage that we panned out to. That is the sky being rolled away behind Brody. What more proof do people need? And here’s what I really don’t get: does it even matter? What do we gain by hearing the various “actors” admit the show was a fake? It doesn’t make The Hills any less enjoyable (and don’t get me wrong, I loved the show when it was on — I blame my college roommate), so who cares?
Were you upset to learn The Hills was fake?
