'Epic' trailer: A new fantasy from the makers of 'Ice Age'

Posted on

Blue Sky Studios’ 2013 animated film Epic is based on the book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs, but the first trailer for the movie makes it look like Honey I Shrunk the Kids mixed with Avatar.* Amanda Seyfried voices a human girl who goes into the forest, becomes tiny-sized, and finds herself embroiled in a battle between the armies of the Leaf Men and a gruesome enemy army of Boggans (whose leader is voiced by Christoph Waltz.) The trailer is set to the lovely song “The Lightning Strike” by Snow Patrol which makes it look like an epic romantic adventure; it also features the voice of Aziz Ansari, playing a slug who says things like “Hey, girl, I’m a sluuuuuug!” So it looks interesting, is what I’m saying. Watch the trailer:

*Or, if you’re in a snarky mood, Fern Gully mixed with Fern Gully.
