The Monsters, Inc. prequel Monsters University doesn’t open until June 21, 2013, but as any parent of a high school senior can tell you, it’s never too soon to start planning for college. And because Pixar is the Hollywood equivalent of the overachieving prodigy who also happens to be the most popular kid in school*, the studio has assembled a staggeringly comprehensive website to promote their film in the form of an official website for Monsters University.
Check it out yourself and see the “leading global institution of higher education” site’s incredible detail. But here are our Top 5 favorite finds on the page:
5. This excerpt from a news story entitled “Are Two Heads Better Than One?”
Dr. Friedman Harker explained the findings recently to a distinguished group of visiting scholars. “While most individuals are either right-brained or left-brained, individuals with multiple heads are often both right-and left-brained. This allows them to see the whole picture with more clarity and in deeper detail.”
4. This class, offered in the School of Liberal Arts & Monstrosities, and entitled “MON 345: Existential Threats”:
Taught by world-renowned Fearologian, Dr. Barnabus Malworthy, this advanced philosophy course engages the timeless debate of whether fear evolved from nothingness or a higher power.
3. The names of the different M.U. fraternities: Jaws Theta Chi (JOX), Roar Omega Roar (ROR), Omega Howl (OH), Gamma Roar Roar (GRR), Slugma Oozma Python (EOP), Oozma Kappa (OK). And sororities: Slugma Slugma Kappa (EEK), Slugma Kappa Theta (EKO), Eta Hiss Hiss (HSS), Chi Phi Argma (XOA), Python Nu Kappa (PNK), Argma Slugma Argma (AEA)
1. The campus map features a Troll Bridge.
Bonus favorite: I couldn’t help but be tickled by the name of the (as yet) unavailable Monsters University intranet: M.U. Net — a moniker quite familiar to me, as I attended Miami University (of Ohio), and used something quite similar during my time there. Point of fact, both M.U.’s athletics programs are members of MAC — the former, the Mid-American Conference, the latter, the Monsters Athletics Conference.
In any event, if I was a pimply 17-year-old again, I’d say this M.U. would be neck-and-neck with my current alma mater. But what say you?

*I’m kidding. That doesn’t actually exist in teenager form.
