Unless you’ve already seen the new issue of V Magazine, just accept that you’re going to get this wrong. Full-length photo and answer below!
It’s Celine Dion, inside the very same V Magazine travel issue that features a bare-bottomed Nicole Kidman on the cover. The shots are touted as her “first non-promotional photo shoot in six years,” which I guess means while it’s clearly promoting her Las Vegas residency — “She moves about the stage like a cross between a ballerina and a drag queen,” the writer says — she gets to wear clothes that are more “crazy” than those she’d don for an album cover. The above ensemble for instance, I’m guessing, reflects the two sides of Celine: The sexy stage performer and the fun-loving mother. “With this [shoot] it was two in the morning and I was still jumping on the trampoline,” she says in the story. “In the house, in my normal life, we are always playing. It doesn’t seem this way on stage, but I’m playing a lot.”
Other choice quotes…
Celine on being born to sing: “I really never had time to dream about my life,” she says. “I was five and my brothers and sisters were dressing me up on the kitchen table and making me sing Janis Joplin songs, and I didn’t even know what I was saying.”
Celine on Adele, whose music she covers in her show: “I think her whole image is good,” she says. “Very sophisticated for her age: the nails, the dresses, the hair, the size, and her talents as a songwriter and a singer. She’s the total package. The way that she is will definitely help the new generation of girls accept themselves.”
