The minions are coming, the minions are coming! Our favorite short, yellow, overall-clad, goggle-sporting workers from 2010’s animated film Despicable Me — which starred Steve Carell, Jason Segel, and Russell Brand — and 2013’s upcoming Despicable Me 2 will be coming to a theater near you on Dec. 19, 2014, EW has confirmed.

The 3D-CG spinoff will be directed by Pierre Coffin, who co-directed the original movie and its upcoming sequel with Chris Renaud. This new minions project will be co-directed by Kyle Balda. The film will also be produced by Illumination Entertainment’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy. This project marks Universal Pictures’ fifth motion picture collaboration with Illumination.
