John Mayer's 'Queen of California' video

The video for “Shadow Days” — the first single from John Mayer’s May album, Born and Raised — featured the singer-songwriter drifting through Idaho, Arizona, and other dusty locales. And in his latest video, for second single “Queen of California” — which you can find below — Mayer is again drifting, this time from a rainy day to a forest to the backstage of what looks like a theater…and many other locations.

Snow and even a parade are settings later in the slow, thoughtful song. It’s not all just lush and visually interesting settings, though: Eventually, Mayer arrives at a recording studio, and that’s where he plays his solo. After sauntering through some other landscapes, the blues rocker ends up with his band in a forest, which turns out to just be…a set for the music video. Is his whole life just one big set? Maybe that’s the message. But we’ll let you decide by watching the full video here:
