On a day when NBC gave its vote of confidence to a number of half-hour faves, the Peacock is also adding a new comedy to its brood.

Dane Cook’s single-cam comedy Next Caller, set at a satellite radio station, has received a six-episode order from the network. Cook plays an alpha-male DJ who is paired on the air with a feminist co-host (Collette Wolfe).

The pick-up comes on a day that saw a number of cancellations across the networks. At NBC, Awake and Harry’s Law, and Are You There, Chelsea? were among the casualties.
