'Private Practice' ratings fall

Private Practice

ABC moved Private Practice to Tuesday night and the result was the show’s lowest-rated episode ever.

Untethered from its Grey’s Anatomy mothership, Practice delivered 6.8 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in the adult demo at 10 p.m. last night — a series low for the medical drama and down 19 percent from its last Thursday telecast a month ago. ABC moved Practice to make room for Shonda Rhimes’ latest drama, Scandal. On the plus side, the episode — ironically titled “It Was Inevitable” — won the 10 p.m. hour and improved just a tad over the average of Body of Proof in the slot.

ABC also had Last Man Standing (6.4 million, 1.6), Cougar Town (4.6 million, 1.4) — both series lows — and Dancing results show (13.8 million, 2.4).

NBC’s The Voice results show (8.8 million, 3.3) was the night’s highest-rated show, though it slipped 6 percent to a season low. NBC also aired Biggest Loser (6.9 million, 2.2), up slightly, and Fashion Star (4.4 million, 1.5), down 17 percent up against Practice.

Fox had a Saturday Night Fever tribute on Glee (6.2 million, 2.4), down 11 percent to a series low, followed by New Girl (5.3 million, 2.7) and the Raising Hope finale (3.9 million, 1.9). CBS aired the night’s most-watched show, NCIS (17.6 million, 3.0), and repeats.

On The CW, the Ringer (0.5) finale rose a tenth of a point from last week.
