Matt Lauer stays with ”Today,” Jimmy Smits joins ”Sons of Anarchy,” and more

Matt Lauer has signed a multi-year deal to continue as cohost of NBC’s Today. In more NBC news, Ryan Seacrest will be part of the network’s prime-time Olympic coverage this summer.

Jimmy Smits joins FX’s Sons of Anarchy for a multi-episode arc next season, playing a gang member with a bad influence on Jax (Charlie Hunnam).

Peri Gilpin (Frasier) will appear on CSI for an extended arc — playing the wife of Ted Danson‘s D.B. Russell — starting May 9.

CBS has renewed David Letterman‘s Late Show through 2014, which will make Letterman the longest-running late-night host in TV history.
