Thursday night in the ratings saw Fox’s American Idol climb a little and CBS’ Rules of Engagement return, but the second week of Fox’s Touch and the latest episode of NBC’s Awake slipped.
Fox was out in front with Idol (15.3 million viewers, 4.2 adults 18-49 rating) up 5 percent. Touch (9.1 million, 2.8) was down 15 percent from its official start last week, but still managed to rank second in the 9 p.m. hour.
CBS had Big Bang (13.6 million, 4.5) down 13 percent to a season low despite Leonard Nimoy lending his voice for a Spock action figure on the show. Big Bang still outrated Idol to win the night. The return of Rules (8.8 million, 2.8) was up a tick from its last episode. Person of Interest (14.4 million, 3.3) and The Mentalist (13.5 million, 2.7) were about the same as their last original episodes.
NBC’s Community (3.6 million, 1.7) was steady and the network’s highest-rated show. Then there was 30 Rock (3.2 million, 1.5) and Up All Night (2.6 million, 1.3). Awake (2.9 million, 1.0) fell 17 percent to a new low.
ABC’s Missing (7.7 million, 1.4) fell 13 percent. The CW’s Vampire Diaries (2.4 million, 1.1) had a 15 percent drop, which put Secret Circle (1.3 million, 0.6) down a tenth.
