Gallagher hospitalized after suffering another heart attack

Posted on

Gallagher was hospitalized again Sunday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian was taken to an Arizona hospital yesterday after suffering a second heart attack, though this one “was fairly mild,” said Gallagher’s rep Christine Scherrer. Scherrer confirmed that the 65-year-old (born Leo Anthony Gallagher Jr.) was awake and resting after his second health scare in as many weeks.

The watermelon-smashing comedian previously collapsed on his way up to a Texas stage on March 14. He was taken to a local hospital and put in a medically induced coma so he could fully recover. Doctors roused him from the coma on March 18 and released him from the hospital three days later. Gallagher previously suffered a heart attack last year in Minnesota and recently told a radio DJ that he was looking to slow down his touring schedule considerably.
