Patricia Heaton apologizes for Sandra Fluke Twitter rant

Posted on

The Middle star Patricia Heaton caused a stir on the Internet last week when she unleashed on Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke. After Fluke testified before Congress in favor of government-sponsored birth control, Heaton joined fellow Conservative Rush Limbaugh — who called Fluke a “slut” — in publicly twashing Fluke. Most notably, she posted, “If every Tweaton [her nickname for her followers] sent Georgetown Gal one condom, her parents wouldn’t have to cancel basic cable, & she would never reproduce – sound good?”

Like Limbaugh, Heaton has now apologized for her remarks. She tweeted Saturday, “Mea culpa Sandra! Wasn’t being respectful 2 u re my tweets as I hope people wd b w/me. Don’t like you being dissed -so sorry.” Heaton has deleted the inflammatory tweets and continues to post on the matter, reiterating her apology as recently as yesterday. Of course, she couldn’t resist tweeting a response to her detractors: “I still enjoyed being called a ‘twunt’ I must say.”
