Uma Thurman is expecting, Alan Ball leaves ”True Blood,” and more

Uma Thurman, 41, and financier Arpad Busson, 49, are expecting their first child. The couple have been dating off and on since 2007. The actress (who has an upcoming stint on NBC’s Smash) has two children — daughter Maya, 13, and son Levon, 10 — with ex-husband Ethan Hawke.

True Blood creator Alan Ball, 54, will step down from his showrunning responsibilities if the HBO series is picked up for a sixth season (which would air in 2013). Said Ball in a statement: ”Because of the fantastic cast, writers, producers and crew, with whom I have been lucky enough to work, I know I could step back and the show will continue to thrive.”

Gerard Butler, 42, confirmed that he recently completed a substance-abuse program at the Betty Ford Center. ”He has returned home in good health,” says his rep.

Comedy Central stars Jon Stewart, 49, and Stephen Colbert, 47, received letters threatening a biological attack against several U.S. senators, it was reported Feb. 22. The FBI is investigating.

Swedish actor Erland Josephson, who worked with director Ingmar Bergman, died on Feb. 25 in Stockholm at the age of 88 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease…. American reporter Marie Colvin, 57, and French photographer Rémi Ochlik, 28, were killed in Syria on Feb. 22 after a reported rocket attack by pro-government forces.
