When I took Modern World History during my junior year of high school, I had a teacher who really valued specifics; if you were foolish enough to use vague terms like “stuff” or “things” to describe particular events or trends, you were condemned as an inferior writer and plagued by red marks all over your paper.

Clearly, neither the members of Gorillaz nor Estelle took any classes with Mr. Hotchkiss (and if they did, he’s very disappointed in them).

This morning, Gorillaz unveiled the video for “DoYaThing,” the new track that features Damon Albarn collaborating with James Murphy and Andre 3000 as part of the “Three Artists. One Song” campaign.

The clip is a typical Gorillaz outing, which means the animation is crisp and clever and the song itself almost takes a backseat to the cartoon chaos. There aren’t any monsters to thwart this time—just an incredibly messy house. Check it out below.

Meanwhile, Estelle has a new album called All of Me, and the latest track from it is a tag-team with Janelle Monae called “Do My Thing.” It’s unclear exactly what the two ladies’ respective “things” actually are, though the track is so funky and the voices so smooth that it’s hard to get mad at them for being hazy in their lyrical delivery.

What do you think of both ? Do your thing in the comments.
