'300' sequel offers role to 'Snow White and the Huntsman' star

Posted on

EW has confirmed that Jamie Blackley is in talks to star as Calisto in 300: Battle of Artemisia. The swords-and-sandals sequel, which producers have said runs “parallel” to its progenitor, finds 16-year-old Calisto leading a group of soldiers in hopes of becoming a hero. Since his 2010 part in the Colin Farrell-Keira Knightley gangster flick London Boulevard, Blackley has remained a relative unknown, though his role in this summer’s highly anticipated Snow White and the Huntsman — alongside Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron — could change all that.

It was announced last week that Aussie Animal Kingdom star Sullivan Stapleton landed the lead role in Artemisia. Former Bond girl Eva Green will play the title character, and South African actor Andrew Pleavin will return as the character Daxos. Smart People helmer Noam Murro will direct the film for a projected 2013 release.
