Diary of a Mad Fat Girl review - Stephanie McAfeee

ACE IN THE HOLE Diary 's heroine hilariously tackles the ups and downs of small-town life in this light read

Diary of a Mad Fat Girl

type:
Book
Current Status:
In Season
author:
Stephanie McAfee
genre:
Nonfiction

We gave it a B+

The story may be set in the tiny town of Bugtussle, Miss., but Ace, our heroine, is anything but a shrinking Southern belle. The high school teacher is sassy, snappy, and unafraid to take on the sometimes ridiculous challenges (spying, dressing in drag) she faces in the course of righting the wrongs visited upon her best friend. Though the plot can meander, the pages zip by so quickly it hardly matters. Diary of a Mad Fat Girl (which was originally self-published as an e-book) is the kind of breezy summer read that’s perfect for wintertime, too. B+
