This story isn’t as ridiculous as the title implies. Oh wait… it totally is. While filming the next season of Steven Seagal: Lawman, the martial arts master teamed up with Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio — himself no stranger to reality television — to raid the house of alleged cockfighter Jesus Llovera. According to The Onion AV Club, Seagal commandeered a SWAT tank and led dozens of officers in riot gear into the house, where they set off explosives, basically ripped apart the house from the outside in, and killed about 100 chickens in the process. Also a casualty of the raid: Llovera’s 11-month-old puppy.
Now the accused animal abuser is threatening to sue Seagal and Arpaio, among others, for the shooting death of his pooch. He is also demanding a personal, written apology to his children. The Under Siege star and Arpaio have reportedly claimed the case is “without merit,” and Seagal is said to be “outraged” at the allegations.
As of press time, neither Seagal’s representation nor the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had responded to EW’s requests for comment. A spokesperson for A&E, home network of Lawman, had no comment.
What do you think, PopWatchers? Are you on Team Seagal, or do you believe Llovera’s claim? Or are both sides of this argument just too gross to think about? Here, cleanse your heart with clips from yesterday’s Puppy Bowl VIII.
