He’s the man of 1,000 impressions, and Saturday Night Live funny guy Jay Pharoah said he has at least 80 more on deck (Richard Pryor and Jamie Foxx, to name a few) when he talked with EW this week. Pharoah admitted he’s been blown away by the Boy Formerly Known as Harry Potter, a.k.a. Daniel Radcliffe, who makes his hosting debut tomorrow, then quipped, “I felt like a proud father!”
In a bit we’re hoping will make its way to “Weekend Update,” Pharoah whipped out his dead-on Jay-Z impression to give a hilarious take on how HOVA may have responded to the record-selling, Internet-busting birth of Blue Ivy Carter, the rapper’s daughter with Beyoncé. Most surprisingly, Pharoah name-checked an upcoming host (who’s performed on the show before) as the person he’s most looking forward to working with this spring. It is not who you’d expect. Find out after the jump.
Pharoah also mentioned he had an SNL first last week when he nearly cracked up during Charles Barkley’s episode. “I almost pulled a Stefon.” And who was to blame? Bill Hader, of course. Said Pharoah, “That was a really great moment for me. I felt like I was [really] part of the cast, like, ‘Oh, I’m fitting in!'” Pharoah also discussed an upcoming segment, “The Jay Pharoah Show,” that is still in the running for this weekend’s broadcast. “You’ll have to watch for that!”
Which Pharoah impression is your favorite SNL fans? Are you looking forward to seeing more of this underrated comedian in 2012?
