Batman taken prisoner by Bane? That’s what happens in The Dark Knight Rises, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times, which sent a reporter to the movie’s set last summer to chat with Anne Hathaway. The scene reportedly takes place while Gotham is under siege (does that city ever get a break?), as Bane’s goons drag a hooded Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) in front of a crowd — only to be interrupted by a stiletto-ed Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman, played by Hathaway). That’s all the detail we get from the story, but it’s plenty to chew over: Will Bane (Tom Hardy) be another Joker-style terrorist, or will he have a more specific motive? Is Catwoman on his side or Batman’s?
Hathaway gives up a few more tidbits in the article: She based her character partly on brainiac golden age siren Hedy Lamarr, and spends her on-set downtime doing crosswords and belting Tina Turner impressions. (Why does that not surprise us? Oh, right.)
Snap judgment time: What do you think of these Dark Knight details? Are you excited to see Batman at the mercy of Bane? Does it sound like this Catwoman will measure up to Michelle Pfeiffer’s and Eartha Kitt’s? Should Hathaway work her “Proud Mary” musical number into the movie?
