Will Smith 'Fresh Prince' reunion photo on Facebook

Posted on

Jonah Bobo, Josh Hutcherson, ...Will and Kate, your wedding has officially been replaced with a new royal event of the year — The Fresh Prince of Bel Air cast reunion! In a picture posted on Will Smith’s Facebook yesterday, he was joined by former costars James Avery (Uncle Phil Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hillary), Alfonso Riberio (Carlton), and Tatyana Ali (Ashley). If you’re prone to getting emotional and/or nostalgic, perhaps you shouldn’t read the sweet caption: “There’s nothin’ like spending Holidays with fam.”

It’s no secret how much we at EW love the ’90s show that made “yo homes, smell ya later!” a thing. In fact, we rhapsodized about the Prince‘s six glorious seasons back in August. Now just a few months later, Smith’s photo post is like the best Christmakwazukkah gift ever!

As you’ve undoubtedly noticed, neither Aunt Viv (Janet Hubert, Daphne Reid) was there, nor Geoffrey (Joseph Marcell) with his sardonic asides, nor funky-funky Jazz (DJ Jazzy Jeff), nor my personal favorite the dearly departed Trevor (a.k.a. Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell), but I’ll take my Fresh Prince nostalgia however I can get it.

As such, I invite you to join me in wrapping up the work week by remembering the good times. My favorites, in no particular order: Carlton Dance(!), “Summer Time,” the unleashing of Tyra Banks into acting, this Jungle Fever reference, Uncle Phil tells off a snootypants doctor, “I resent that,” Will Smith unveils his Rubik’s cube skills for the first time, “Jump On It,” Jazz and Hilary’s unlikeliest of romances, and, of course, the unforgettable theme song that everyone past the age of 20 knows (or should). I could go on for days, but I’ll turn it over to you, PopWatchers.

What was your favorite Fresh Prince moment? Are you heartened to see that the gang is still in touch 15 years later? Speaking of which, have the cast mates been preserved in a time capsule all these years? They barely aged a day! What other cast reunions would you like the Internet to magically bring together?
