The Lord of Late Night: The Return of the King! That was the vibe from last night’s year-end Saturday Night Live, in which Jimmy Fallon fulfilled his destiny and hosted a cameo-filled spectacular. It’s already being hailed as an instant classic, from the moment he groped Amy Poehler’s boob to the seasonal ice-rink farewell. He sang, he danced, he didn’t dance; it was a delight. A Fallon episode might just have to become a new SNL Christmas tradition.

But was he wicked-cool enough to dislodge Melissa McCarthy from the top of our Saturday Night Liveliest Host contest. The Bridesmaids star has dominated our competition thus far this season, even gaining momentum in the past two weeks. In our most recent poll, McCarthy scored 49.8 percent of the vote. Last week’s host, Katy Perry, placed second but her support could dissipate quickly: Her 17.8 percent showing was the lowest debut since Charlie Day. Emma Stone (13.5 percent) leapfrogged Jason Segel (13.0 percent) for third place, leaving Steve Buscemi as the eliminated odd man out.

This will be a crucial test for McCarthy. Should she hold off Fallon this week, she might prove invincible. Below, I’ve embedded one clip for each of the five surviving hosts, as reminders of their recent performances. Vote below, and the host with the least popular support will be sent packing, and the other four will advance to compete against Charles Barkley on Jan. 7. Ultimately, we’ll crown the Saturday Night Liveliest host at the end of the season. Watch and vote below.
