Tweety and Sylvester: Back on the big screen, this time in 3-D

A new Looney Tunes animated short features late voice artist Mel Blanc

Posted on

For the first time since 1988, movie audiences — specifically, those for Happy Feet Two — can experience a new Looney Tunes animated short starring the late, great voice artist Mel Blanc. I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat features Blanc singing as Tweety Bird and his literal bête noire, Sylvester the Cat. (His voice, taken from a late-1940s children’s record of the same name, was given a digital spit and polish for the cartoon.) Other than creating a 3-D, CG-animated Tweety and Sylvester, the biggest challenge, says director Matthew O’Callaghan, was giving the ”sweet little duet…that Warner Bros. sensibility.” Adds exec producer Sam Register, ”That sensibility being characters beating up each other.”
