After nearly 12 violent years and two very successful spinoffs, Austin filmmaker Joe Nicolosi has finally taken the CSI franchise to the next level — by transporting the CSI: Miami team to the hotbed of sin and corruption known as Legoland. If this hilarious stop-motion short film teaches us anything, it’s that David Caruso’s dramatic mid-sentence sunglasses schtick was always meant to be reenacted by a hard-nosed Lego cop. Check out the video below, unless you’re part Lego. In that case, the graphic violence would probably make this NSFW-ish for you:
Nicolosi, who previously tackled a live action Super Mario trailer, did an excellent job capturing the essence of a typical CSI: Miami outing. From the pre-credits one-liner to the sweeping camera aerial to the harsh brutality of the Lego-crime, CSI: Legoland is the real deal. Sort of.
