Ricki Lake scored this season’s first set of 10s on Dancing with the Stars Monday, but the talk show host was kicking herself for muttering something during rehearsal that ended up into Monday’s video package.
While practicing the paso doble to the Psycho theme, Lake got so frustrated with herself that she whined, “I want to quit, like I totally want to quit.” After her performance with partner Derek Hough earned a 29 from the judges, Lake expressed regret afterwards for breaking down at practice.
“I feel like an idiot for saying I would quit,” Lake told reporters. “But that did happen. I really did feel that way at that time.”
Apparently, Hough wasn’t even there when she had the meltdown. “I drove home [from rehearsal] and I was crying the whole way home.”
“Really?” Hough asked.
“I feel like an idiot,” Lake responded. That surely won’t last: She’s on the top of the leaderboard now! “I can’t even believe it and the two [10s]. It’s crazy. It’s kind of a blur.”
That said, the intensity of the scary Psycho music threw off the pair. “We had to listen to the same part – dun dun dun dun dun da,” Hough recalled. “I was like, ‘babe you better get this because I don’t want to hear this music one more time!”
“We were not psyched,” Lake admitted.
