After a four-year hiatus from filmmaking, comedian Chris Tucker is in talks to join director David O. Russell’s adaptation of author Matthew Quick’s The Silver Lining Playbook, EW has confirmed. It would be Tucker’s first feature film role that wasn’t part of the Rush Hour franchise since 1997’s Jackie Brown.
Bradley Cooper will star in the lead role as a former high school history teacher who moves in with his mother after he checks out of a mental institution. Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) is attached to play one of his neighbors. The Weinstein Co. project is set to begin shooting this fall. (The Hollywood Reporter first reported on Tucker’s role.)
