You can take your stinkin’ Big Brother (it does literally stink in that house, you know it does) and all your various Real Housewives: The reality-TV competition show I’ve been waiting for all summer is finally coming back… in the early fall. Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, the absurdly entertaining contest to see who’s the best artist among 14 plucky paint-brush wielders. The series returns Wednesday, Oct. 12, and as you can see in this promo, there will be plenty of splattering, nudity, wracked sobbing, Sarah Jessica Parker, and at least one person who’ll want to be called “The Sucklord.”
Returning judges will be Bill Powers (from this clip, his hair looks rather abstract this season), New York Magazine art critic Jerry “The Stern” Saltz, and the chimerical China Chow. Simon de Pury will be back as the contestants’ fastidious “mentor.”
I know Work of Art wasn’t the highest-rated of Bravo’s shows during the first season, but I sure as hell enjoyed its combination of art-lofty scrutiny and X-Acto-knife back-stabbing.
Anyone else looking forward to the return of Work of Art?
