Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Navy Captain and astronaut Mark Kelly, will publish a joint memoir through Scribner. The “deeply personal” memoir will recount the couple’s love story, Giffords’ rise in politics, and the tragic shooting on January 8th that killed six people and severely injured Giffords and 12 others. The book will also cover Kelly’s recent mission as commander of Space Shuttle Endeavor’s final flight and Giffords’ recovery as she regains physical and cognitive abilities after being shot in the head at point-blank range.
“The events of January 8th stirred our nation,” said Scriber Executive Vice President and Publisher Susan Moldow. “We are deeply honored to publish Mark Kelly’s and Gabby Giffords’ memoir, which will fully unfold the remarkable story of two exceptionally brave public servants.”
The memoir, still untitled, has yet to get a release date.
