American Idol: Who should have won?

Posted on

Yes, 122 million votes were cast, Lauren Alaina is an adorable producer-pimped finalist, and Scotty McCreery is a surefire country star in the making. Blah blah blah, yada yada yada, yakety yak (don’t talk back). But we American Idol fans are a bitter bunch. Why focus on the now when we can look back and whine about which Idol contestant should have made it into the finals?

Let’s face it: Last night’s teenage country show-down had its fair share of hits (Scotty’s reprisal of Montgomery Gentry’s “Gone,” for one), but the show could easily go down as The. Least. Interesting. Performance. Finale. Ever. Were was the drama? The break-out performances? The completely unnecessary and painfully embarrassing boxing uniforms handed to the Davids in season 7? Personally, though he never quite lived up to his potential, I would have loved to have seen what jazz hijinks Casey Abrams would have pulled on the finale stage. And if we had to root for a woman to win this season — an outcome Idol‘s producers certainly seem to be pulling for — don’t we wish we could have been given the opportunity to vote for the Growler, Haley Reinhart? Or even Pia-bot 2.0?

So, for just a moment, let’s escape to a magical Idol dreamland where Jennifer Lopez applies our make-up, Kris Allen feeds us grapes, and Randy Jackson reads a third-grade English textbook. Which two season 10 contestants do you wish would have made it to the finale? And which of the 13 should have won the whole shebang? Vote in our polls below! Sorry, David Cook is not an option. But he can feed a puppy with a bottle in your dreamland!
