SPOILER ALERT: The Office‘s mysterious, creepy kleptomaniac Creed (Creed Bratton) is set to score the top job at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, replacing Deangelo Vickers (Will Ferrell), who in turn replaced Michael Scott (Steve Carell). After teasing viewers all season about the identity of the new boss, Office writers dropped a bomb in the May 12 episode, when corporate gave Creed the gig due to his seniority.
”I didn’t know I was getting it until the table read,” says Bratton, who not only shares the same name as his character but enjoys keeping you off guard about which Creed you’re speaking to. ”I throw the office into chaos in ways only Creed can.” Bratton will have the title for the final two episodes of the season; who assumes the position this fall is still anybody’s guess, with Will Arnett, Jim Carrey, James Spader, and original U.K. Office star Ricky Gervais among the finale’s guest stars contending for the post. Bratton assures us that no matter who the corporate office chooses, his alter ego won’t go quietly. ”Remember when they tried to fire me in the Halloween episode? Did that happen? There’s bodies buried out there. It’s not going to be easy to get rid of me.”
