Lily Collins, daughter of famed singer Phil Collins, will soon become a household name as she takes on the title role of the Grimm classic, Snow White, starring alongside Julia Roberts (Evil Queen) and Armie Hammer (Prince Andrew Alcott). But before booking the could-be breakthrough role, Collins has popped up in a few places — and not only in TV and movies. Of course, that’s probably where you know her best.
In 2009, she starred in The Blind Side as Collins Tuohy, daughter to Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw’s characters. And the same year, she did a two-episode stint on 90210 as Annie’s rival, Phoebe, in the season one finale. Her earliest TV experience, however, was as an infant on the British version of Growing Pains. (On that note: YouTube, your challenge is before you. Now deliver me every episode of the British version of Growing Pains, post-haste!)
But stardom came calling, the 22-year-old, who is also a communications student at the University of Southern California, was on the upward path in the teen journalism world, working for publications like ELLEGirl UK, Seventeen, and CosmoGIRL! Color me impressed.
We’ll next see Collins in May’s Priest alongside Paul Bettany and Stephen Moyer. The movie has renegade vampires and a warrior priest, meaning I’m pretty much a guaranteed attendee. September’s Abduction follows, and in 2012, she’ll star in Mortal Instruments, the first movie in a possible franchise based off the books by Cassandra Clare.
So, PopWatchers. What are your thoughts on the new Snow White? Have we ever seen someone who has hosted a TeenNick show (see below) have such a promising career?
