After debuting last night after American Idol to 10.8 million viewers, the Howie Mandel flash-mob special Mobbed has been picked up by Fox for an additional eight episodes. The show — in which Mandel employs massive crowds of strangers to help people make life-changing announcements (engagement, employment, pregnancy, etc.) — improved on the Thursday 9 p.m. timeslot for Fox by 36 percent among Adults 18-49. “Doing this project was a huge undertaking — it was like doing television without a net,” Mandel said in a statement. “And I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Fox is giving us an opportunity to keep pushing the envelope.” Fox has yet to announce specific air-dates for the show.
