'Survivor: Redemption Island': Russell fights for his life

Big bad Russell Hantz was on the verge of elimination, needing a victory in his Redemption Island duel with Matt to stay alive with a chance to reenter the game. Did he get it? My full recap will be up at midnight (UPDATE: Click over for Dalton’s full Survivor recap), but if you’ve already watched and want to sound off about what happened, then read on after the jump for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you’ve already watched Wednesday night’s episode of Survivor: Redemption Island.]

After losing his one-on-one duel with Matt, Russell shockingly burst into tears upon being informed by host Jeff Probst that his game was over. But, in typical Russell fashion, he recovered for just long enough to go out in a blaze of unrepentant glory. With his final speech about the incompetence of his former tribemates, Russell baited Ralph into semi-revealing that he was in possession of a Hidden Immunity Idol, thereby providing key intel for the Ometepe members (Phillip and Kristina) witnessing the whole thing.  Russell then proceeded to also inform Ometepe of the Zapatera players to keep an eye on (Sarita, Mike, and Steve). It was a fireworks show of truly Hantzonian proportions.

Later, after losing the Immunity Challenge, Ometepe voted out Kristina. And with Rob now in possession of a Hidden Immunity Idol, his power position in the tribe has never looked stronger — even while the tribe itself continues to look weaker and weaker. What do you think about Russell’s tears? And did Ralph blow it by absentmindedly volunteering such vital information? Hit the message boards and let us know. But first, make sure to check out our video below of the cast revealing their most embarrassing moments ever. There are some real gems in there!
