Whether hunting crabs, challenging the opposing tribe, or showing off tattoos, Phillip was ready to take on any man tonight on Survivor: Redemption Island. (No women, however. They would have to wait for another day.) But would the former federal agent’s kooky ways get him voted out? My full recap will be up at midnight (UPDATE: Click the link for Dalton’s Survivor: Redemption Island episode 2 recap), but if you’ve already watched episode 2 and can’t wait to sound off, then read on below the jump for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Wednesday’s episode of Survivor: Redemption Island.]
In an episode that saw another hidden immunity idol found (by Ralph, who stumbled across it by accident — yes they are simply that easy to find now), a brewing showmance (between Matt and Andrea), and a verbal confrontation (between Russell and Ralph over a hidden immunity idol clue), it was Zapatera that once again won the immunity challenge, coming from behind to win after Ometepe’s Natalie could not unlock a box with a ball inside. While Phillip seemed like the easy target to go at Tribal Council, Rob was more concerned with Matt — for making a possible romantic connection with Andrea and for congratulating the other tribe after their victory. He then orchestrated Matt’s ouster, getting his new alliance of four (Rob, Grant, Natalie, Ashley) to vote Matt out while Phillip was busy showing Probst his cool animal tattoos.
Did Rob make the right move getting rid of a strong, young ally? Can Matt possibly make it back into the game by winning out at Redemption Island? And whose side are you on in the brewing Ralph vs. Russell feud? My full recap will be up at midnight, but you can sound off on the message boards right here and right now. And make sure to check out my pre-game interview with Matt in the video player below. Plus, for more Survivor scoop, follow me on Twitter @EWDaltonRoss.
