The actress got emotional when discussing the crimes with Winfrey for the first time. Said Hudson, “The only thing I can do to honor their memory is to make them proud.” Hudson said that her family and God have helped her get through the more trying moments.

But the hour wasn’t completely somber: Hudson also talked about her amazing weight loss with the help of Weight Watchers.  “It’s like a brand new me,” she said. Hudson told Oprah and her audience that she lost a whopping 80lbs and revealed that, at a size 6, she was at her goal weight. “That 4 and that 2 and that 0 is not for me,” exclaimed the actress.

Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn also appeared and gave makeovers to some of Hudson’s family members who also signed up for Weight Watchers and dropped the pounds. Hudson then took the stage to debut her new song, “Where You At,” off her new album I Remember Me, out March 22. Thankfully, the drastic weight-loss has taken none of her vocal power away.
