Last season’s cliff-hanger featured Paloma Reynosa (Jacqueline Obradors) — the vengeful daughter of the drug dealer killed by Mark Harmon’s Gibbs — entering the Pennsylvania shop belonging to Gibbs’ dad (Ralph Waite). Wrong move, Paloma. ”Going after Gibbs’ father is really poking the bear,” says exec producer Shane Brennan. ”You don’t do that to Special Agent Gibbs — without consequences, anyway.” Other developments in season 8: an origin episode or two on how certain individuals became members of the squad, Ziva (Cote de Pablo) reestablishing contact with her ruthless father, and the welcome return of DiNozzo Sr. (Robert Wagner). But what about ”Tiva” — that possible, and fan-fueled, romance between Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva? ”It’s like juggling a grenade while trying to put the pin back in,” jokes Brennan. ”The audience will just have to wait and see.” SEPT. 21
