The biggest obstacle facing new lovers House (Hugh Laurie) and Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) in season 7 is also the most obvious one: She’s his boss. ”He’s a guy who lies constantly,” notes creator David Shore. ”He’s [used to] going behind her back at work. What happens when he realizes, ‘This is my girlfriend. I respect this person. Is that going to screw me up at work?”’ Elsewhere, Joan of Arcadia‘s Amber Tamblyn steps in to fill the temporary void left by Olivia Wilde, who’s away shooting Cowboys & Aliens. ”She’s a brilliant doctor, but she’s never been confronted with the real world,” explains Shore. Meanwhile, the reunion of Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) and his ex Sam (Cynthia Watros) will provide the ”perfect counterpoint to House and Cuddy,” says Shore. ”It’s more of a traditional relationship — but with its own problems.” SEPT. 20
