Fall TV Preview: Family Guy

Posted on

Attention, citizens of Quahog! You are in grave danger! ”Our season opener is a murder mystery,” says exec producer Steve Callaghan of the one-hour premiere. ”We’re going to kill a few people off.” Also at risk in season 9: Santa Claus. The hour-long Christmas episode features Stewie vowing to travel to the North Pole to kill Kris Kringle after the local mall Santa leaves before the homicidal tot gets his turn. Plus, adds Callaghan, ”it’s got four musical numbers.” Elsewhere, Rush Limbaugh, Arianna Huffington, and Bill Maher will appear as themselves (the latter two in a live-action segment shot on the set of Maher’s HBO show). In May, the Seth MacFarlane triumvirate — The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, and American Dad — will do a quasi-crossover in which a hurricane terrorizes the East Coast, forcing all three families to stay in their houses for their respective episodes. Guy‘s season, meanwhile, will end with a twist on Return of the Jedi called — what else? — ”It’s a Trap!” SEPT. 26
