Déja Vu: Paris Hilton Denies All Drug Charges
Remember way back in 2007, when Paris Hilton finished serving 23 days in jail for a post-DUI probation violation? Scared straight, Hilton vowed to change her hard-partying habits, telling PEOPLE she wanted to treat her experience as ”a new beginning in the way I’m portrayed in the world.” Easier said than done.

For a while it seemed the heiress, 29, had dialed back her globe-trotting, nightclub-loving lifestyle — or at least her antics stopped making headlines. Then came this summer: First, in July, Hilton was detained at the World Cup in South Africa for marijuana possession. (Her rep called it a ”misunderstanding,” and she wasn’t charged.) She was reportedly stopped for pot possession in France weeks later, although she was never booked. (The claims were ”completely false,” she tweeted.) And then, on Aug. 27, Hilton was busted in Vegas when .8 grams of cocaine were allegedly found in her purse following a traffic stop. (Her boyfriend, Cy Waits — who recently made news for fending off an intruder at Hilton’s L.A. home — was charged with a DUI.) The celebutante has been charged with felony drug possession, and could face up to four years in prison. Hilton insists the purse wasn’t hers — and initially suggested to cops that the drugs could be ”gum.” Her lawyer just hopes we won’t ”rush to judgment.” Hmm…Can we wander slowly to judgment instead? — Keith Staskiewicz
