Watch this: Dark Blue (season 2 premieres Aug. 4, 9 p.m., on TNT)

”We infiltrate worlds that are tough for other cops to go into, and we deal with the most hardened criminals in L.A. This season I have a love interest in Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica, which opens up my character. There’s a lot more romance and smirky humor in the show…. Tricia plays an FBI agent, and we end up working together, and I think you know the rest. There’s one scene where we’re getting together and she’s putting handcuffs on me. We can’t get away from that world; there’s something enticing about the paraphernalia of police work. He says, ‘Do you have the key?’ and she says ‘Yes,’ and he says, ‘Too bad.”’

Sorry about that: Big Shots (2007, ABC)

”Originally the show was entitled Bedrooms and Boardrooms — that’ll give you a real indication as to what it was. People thought of me as so serious in The Practice, so this was an attempt to lighten it up. The pilot was pretty funny, then the show just unraveled because it was trying to be Desperate Housewives for men. When you’re on a runaway train you’re trying to fix and it’s derailing, it’s not fun to watch…. It became this silly white-man-angst show, especially with the steam-room scenes. The fake steam is going, you can’t see anybody, you’re in these towels, and you’re just like, ‘Oh my God, how did I get here?”’
