'If You Really Knew Me' really knows how to be terrific

I’m joking, sort of, but IYRKM is great — it’s in the empowerment-through-communication vein of MTV programming, rather than the trashy lifestyle porn. Each episode follows a different school through “Challenge Day,” a teen counseling kind of program in which students from disparate cliques break down social barriers by baring their souls to each other. It’s somewhere between PostSecret and trust falls, and all the kids weep. Me too! The show can be a little trite, but, well, so’s high school. I’ve watch more than my fair share of My Super Sweet 16 marathons, and while those episodes left me feeling nauseated and hopeless, If You Really Knew Me puts a completely different spin on the adolescent condition. It’s a welcome change of pace.

Did you watch last night’s episode, PopWatchers? Are you as into the sharing as I am?
