Emily VanCamp has fueled speculation that the show’s fifth season may well be its last. “No one has told me that it’s the last season,” maintains Grant. As a result, the scribe isn’t approaching the season as a bookend to the series. “I don’t want to do that. It’s sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy.”
If anything, Grant is hoping the decision to leap forward one year will add years to the show’s life span. “I’m actually looking at this season as a fresh beginning,” he says. “That’s one of the things you can do when you jump a year. I want to put [our characters] in fresh and different places, and hopefully that will have legs.”
