Summer 2010 breakouts

Posted on

Bruno Mars
He’s behind two recent smashes: B.o.B’s ”Nothin’ on You” and Travie McCoy’s ”Billionaire.” Now he’s readying his own album. ”It’s gonna be Christmas classics,” says Mars, 24. ”Kidding! It’s like [my hits], but on steroids.”

Sleigh Bells
The Brooklyn-based duo’s debut, Treats, is a blitz of handclap hooks, girlish coos, and blown-speaker buzz that giddily justifies the hype. ”Joe Jonas tweeted about us,” says singer Alexis Krauss, 26, ”which was bizarre, but pretty cool.”

Mike Posner
While still attending Duke, he signed a major-label record deal. A year later, he’s got a hit with raspy dis track ”Cooler Than Me.” ”I wrote that song in my dorm room,” says Posner, 22. Next? His debut album (out Aug. 3).
