Jennifer Lawrence: Let the Buzz Begin!

Posted on

Her Big Moment
Lawrence exhibits composure beyond her 19 years as Ree, a rural Missouri teen raising her two younger siblings in Winter’s Bone.

Where You’ve Seen Her
The Louisville, Ky., native appeared on the TBS sitcom The Bill Engvall Show and had a small role in 2009’s The Burning Plain with Charlize Theron.

Animal Instincts
In Bone, Lawrence convincingly skins a squirrel on screen. (Yes, it was real! The animal was hunted legally.) ”I put myself totally in Ree’s mentality,” she says. ”Then as soon as they called ‘Cut,’ I started screaming like a whiny little girl.”

Grin And Bear It
Her daily makeup regimen on the film included having her teeth yellowed. ”It was such a pain in the butt,” she says. ”And now when I watch the movie I’m like, ‘You don’t even see my teeth.’ It’s such a waste!”

What’s Next
After turning 20 in August, she costars in director Jodie Foster’s dark comedy The Beaver (due this November), featuring Mel Gibson as a man who communicates only through a hand puppet. Says Lawrence, ”I’m not good with the Disney teen stuff.”
