'Captain America': Dominic Cooper negotiating to play a young Howard Stark

Posted on

We checked with Marvel and per usual, the studio won’t confirm, since a deal isn’t yet completed. But sources close to the movie, set to begin shooting in London in July, have said that Cooper, best known for his roles in An Education and Mamma Mia, is negotiating to play the young version of the character portrayed by John Slattery (Mad Men) in Iron Man 2. How big the role will be is unknown, but Cooper does seem to have the charisma to pull off the dapper character in Joe Johnston’s adaptation of the popular comic book hero. (Though couldn’t they have just dyed Slattery’s hair black and let him have a go? It’s hard to be cooler than Slattery.)
