That list right there is a handy summary of why a certain era of NY hip-hop has been referred to as a golden age. Each of those albums is a classic. Seeing not one but four such records performed as it originally appeared on wax? Yeah, that’s pretty cool. It even might make up for the fact that Lauryn Hill’s rumored involvement in this year’s Rock the Bells seems to have been a tall tale.
