Posted on

Dave Fisher, 69, the lead singer of the 1960s collegiate folk band Highwaymen, died May 7 of a bone marrow disease at his home in Rye, N.Y., according to the AP. Fisher and four fellow Wesleyan University freshmen formed the group in 1958, and they released their biggest hit, “Michael,” three years later. The band broke up in 1964 but reunited in 1987 for a concert at their 25th college reunion, and have continued to perform about a dozen concerts per year. In addition to being Highwaymen’s lead singer, Fisher wrote nearly all of the group’s music. A memorial service is scheduled for June 13 at Clear View School in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.
